INTERCEPT BLOOD SYSTEM FOR PLATELETS
The INTERCEPT™ Blood System for platelets is intended for the ex vivo pathogen inactivation of whole-blood-derived and apheresis platelets. The system is used to inactivate a broad spectrum of viruses, bacteria, protozoa and contaminating donor leukocytes in platelet components.
The INTERCEPT Blood System improves blood safety by helping Blood Centers to:
- Prevent transfusion-associated bacterial sepsis
- Close the window period for known pathogens
- Protect from outbreaks of emerging pathogens
- Prevent transfusion-associated graft versus host disease (TA-GVHD) without gamma irradiation
- Reduce acute transfusion reactions
